Sometimes I talk to other entrepeneurs/webshop and I tell them our concept. In short: we are a webshop who keeps every aspect to itself, including storagemanagement. Once discussed, I always get the question: did you thought about dropshipping? The short answer: yes we did, but for us it is, at the moment, not interesting enough. For the ones who are not familiar with the phenomenon, below a short definition found via ondernemen en internet:
"Dropshipping is a term from E-commerce which stands for the principal where the producer, wholesaler or product supplier directly ships to the end user (the customer). The webshop, in fact a mediator, does not have to keep stock and does not involve in logistics."
This means that you will not involve with the shipping process. Seems to look perfect, but it definitely has some cons to it. For example: when you are not responsible for the shipping process, you cannot control it, meaning: when an order gets lost, the customer will hold you accountable and you will be responsible to find a solution. As a mediator you will have to put more efforts in searching and discuss with several parties to be able to handle the "complaint" (in comparison with the own storage management).
We find it, mostly from company and consumer perspective, a save an stable choice to start a shop where you can influence all processes. That's why we have now 200+ products in stock and like to give all our shipments a small "PaluGada touch". Nobody knows what the future will bring, but we are certain that we will always put our best efforts into giving our customer a proper customer experience.
